Armenians have been living peacefully in Iran since 400 years ago and have cordial relations with their fellow citizens, Bishop Babken Charyan, the primate of the Armenians of central and southern Iran said in a meeting with Morteza Rahmani-Movahed, the deputy of the Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO), during the latter’s visit to Isfahan.
He hailed the visit of the ministerial and official delegation to the Julfa district of Isfahan, where Mohaved also met members of the Armenian diocese, Quds online news agency reported.
He hoped that with developments in the tourism sector and increase in the number of tourists traveling to Iran, especially since President Hassan Rouhani took office, the world would hear “Iran’s message of peace and unity.”
Calling the cordial relations between Armenians and Iranians as the “best example of religious harmony in the country,” Movahed said Iranians were “honored to have the Armenians, and the Vank cathedral in Isfahan.”
He also thanked the Armenians for their efforts at conservation of Julfa’s monumental structures and said the ICHHTO authorities in Isfahan would be “more than willing to assist them to preserve these magnificent monuments.”
