Brazilian Guitarist Coming to Azadi Tower

Brazilian guitarist and composer Yamandu Costa is to give a performance at Azadi Tower in west Tehran. 

According to an email from the Brazilian Embassy, the event organizer, to the Financial Tribune, the concert is slated for February 26 and will seek to build cultural ties between the two nations. 

Costa, 38, is recognized as one of the most gifted guitar players in the South American country. His main instrument is the Brazilian seven-stringed classical guitar, and his diverse styles include Brazilian musical genres chorinho, bossa nova and samba as well as tango, milonga and chamamé, genres of the Argentinean type.

He has won several awards in various events including at the Free Jazz Festival 2001 in São Paulo and the Guitar Festival of Chile in 2001.

Admission to the concert is free. However, due to limited seats, prearrangement is required. Those interested can send an email to ambassador.teera@itamaraty.gov.br.
