Sabri’s White Sculptures on Display

Acclaimed artist Kambiz Sabri is displaying his new collection of sculptures at Khak Art Gallery in Tehran. The works bear some similarities with his previous sculptures in that he has again used his signature pillows and mattresses and the works are white all over.  The kind of model buildings he has used this time is what differentiates his collection from the previous ones. This time in addition to modern buildings he has made use of models of well-known structures, like the Boroujerdi Historic House in Kashan, Isfahan Province, and Azadi Tower in west Tehran, Honaronline wrote. Sabri, 50, got to know the arts during childhood at the Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults where he learned painting. Later as a young adult, he was encouraged by Abdolhossein Pazouki, a university teacher of architecture, to work in architectural firms. During this period, Sabri became aware of his own artistic talents. He was accepted with top ranks at the Department of Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Tehran. Coinciding with Sabri’s graduation in 2001, his submitted work in the 3rd Sculpture Biennial of Iran won the special jury prize that was purchased by the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Arts. He has participated in several art exhibitions, taught at art faculties, designed award statues for different festivals, managed art exhibitions and coordinated the Iran Pavilion at the 51st Venice Biennial. Khak Gallery, located at No. 1, Zhilla Alley, Basiri St., Shariati Ave., will host the artworks until March 6.
