Iceland Choreographer Collaborating in Sari Project

Black Box Theater in Sari, in the northern province of Mazandaran, will hold a single staging of the unscripted performance art of “Being” designed and directed by Icelandic choreographer Bára Sigfúsdóttir on May 18.  Performance art is a genre in which the actions by the artist are the final, actual art. The performance may be either scripted or unscripted, random or carefully orchestrated; spontaneous or by design and direction. As part of the 21st edition of Iran International University Theater Festival (May 6-15) in Tehran, the performance was scheduled for four stagings at Mehregan Theater on May 13 and 14 and two each day, Honaronline reported on its Persian website.  While conducting a workshop in Iran in 2014, Sigfúsdóttir was intrigued by the skills of two local artists, Masoumeh Jalalieh and Alireza Mirmohammadi. According to the director’s website, Barasigfusdottir.com, Being is a movement performance that concentrates on the meeting of two individuals on stage.  It is about the development of a human dialogue, about the sharing of a space and exploring how to communicate with one another within the cultural similarities and differences.
