67% Growth in Golestan Non-Oil Exports in 9 Months

Non-oil exports from Golestan Province stood at 279,495 tons worth $132.72 million in the current fiscal year’s first ninth months (March 21-Dec. 21), registering 111% and 67% year-on-year growth in weight and value respectively, the director general of Golestan Customs Administration said.

Ebrahim Hosseini also told IRNA that the exports mainly included cement, profile pipes, dairy products, dates, potatoes, iodine and polystyrene.

Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Afghanistan, Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Pakistan were the main export destinations.

Imports into the province during the same period hit 14,234 tons worth 40.97 million, registering a 68% and 180% YOY increase in weight and value respectively.

The imports, which mainly included textile, came from China, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Poland and Vietnam.

The local official noted that a total of 10,654 tons of foreign goods worth $10.8 million transited through the province during the same period, registering an 844% and 184% YOY growth in weight and value respectively.

Hosseini said Golestan earned 530.39 billion rials ($1.77 million) in customs revenue during the period, which were 329% higher than in the corresponding period of last year.

A total of 267,000 tons of commodities worth $112 million were exported from Golestan during the last Iranian year (March 2020-21), showing a 25% and 19% decline in weight and value respectively compared with the year before.
