2000 Visitors Create ‘Artwork of Peace’

An artwork titled ‘Hachure’ organized by Bozorgmehr Hosseinpour, acclaimed Iranian caricaturist, was displayed at the third Grand Festival of Art for Peace (September 11 to 21) held at Niavaran Cultural Center.

The item was inspired by the number-puzzles in children’s magazines and completed by visitors, each drawing a line and connecting the numbers on the canvas, Honaronline reported.

“About 2000 dots were connected and hachured the canvas, creating a public art symbolizing people’s union and peace,” said Hosseinpour.

“My mind was sparked by the idea and I thought the resulting artwork could belong to the public, the real creators.” He dedicated ‘Hachure’ to the war-stricken children.

He said his recent works are related to the social plight of youngsters, because “I closely interact with the youth and understand how they feel. I’d like to give them solace.”

Over 150 Iranian artists participated in the program, delivering the message of building and sustaining peace through a series of inspiring art addressing people of all age groups.

Veteran artists in different genres displayed their artworks. In addition to Hosseinpour, Fereidoun Ave, sculpture, Parviz Tanavoli, painter and sculptor, Mohammad Ahsaei, calligraphist and graphist, Abbas Kiarostami, film director, Reza Kianian, cinema actor, Nasser Taghvai, film director, Ali Shirazi, calligraphist and Behnam Kamrani, painter were present.
