‘A Brief Encounter’ in Poland, Hungary

Iranian short animation ‘A Brief Encounter’, directed by young animator Somayeh Yazdanpanah, which was screened at a film festival in Hungary recently, will participate in another event in Poland in the coming months.

The 2014 production was screened in the children’s film competition section along with 34 other animations from across the world, at the Primanima festival in Hungary, October 21-24.

Her debut work, it runs for two minutes and 36 seconds, and tells the story of a dragon who lives in the suburbs and burns the city’s trash. One day, on the way home he meets a small girl and a new story emerges, Mehr News Agency reported.

“The work deals with the themes of love and the transient nature of life. The topic is based on a psychological idea and as an illustrator, I displayed the story through pictures,” Yazdanpanah said.

Primanima focuses primarily on animation film makers of the future.

The animation will also attend Etiuda & Anima International Film Festival, a leading film event in Poland organized in Krakow since 1994, and catering to independent producers, animation professionals, and students of film and art schools from across the world.

This year’s edition is slated for November 23-28.

Yazdanpanah’s work premiered at Tehran’s 9th Animation Festival in March and has also attended global events including Switzerland’s Fantoche International Animation Film Festival.

An illustrator and 2D artist, she works on an array of projects, including mobile games, 2D animations and books for children.
