An Italian play, ‘Comedy of Occurrence’, directed by Meysam Abdi was staged at Gousheh Theatre Hall at Niavaran Cultural House.
Manouchehr Ramezani was the dramaturge and the play was an adaptation of ‘ The Art of Comedy’ (1964), originally titled ‘L’arte della commedia’ written by Italian playwright Eduardo De Filippo, Honaronline reported.
De Filippo (1900 –1984), an Italian actor, playwright, screenwriter, author and poet is best known for his Neapolitan works Filumena Marturano (1951) and Napoli Milionaria (1950).
The sixth production of the ‘Errors’ Theatre Group, it was adapted to suit the Iranian palate. “We created a unique version of the original text,” said Abdi.
The play set the audiences thinking, in addition to its comic nature. “I’m not challenging the liberal comedy, but the story was not to merely make people laugh.”
Inclined to a comic situation, focusing on the actors’ performance rather than dialogues, the social-political comedy with a formalistic mise en scène, was unique.
Abbas Jamshidi, Fariba Aminian, Manouchehr Rezaei, Mansour Eskandari, Amin Qazi, Mehdi Majnouni and Esmaeil Bastani were in the cast.
Founded in 1997, Errors theatre aims to create a mobile performing group with emphasis on seeking feasible ways to communicate with the audience.
