Director of the short film ‘Cloudy Children’ Reza Fahimi, who had won the best Asian short film award and the grand prize at the Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia 2015 in Japan in June, received his cash prize on November 13 on the sidelines of the second day of the Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF).
The prize was conferred on him by Seigo Tono, a member of the festival jury, in a ceremony attended by Farid Farkhondeh-Kish, the event secretary and Hassan Dezvareh, advisor for the international section of TISFF, at Tehran’s Charsou Cineplex, the festival public relations reported.
Fahimi could not receive his cash award due to the international economic and banking sanctions on Iran over the dispute over its nuclear energy program.
The Japanese event was the film’s first international presentation. It is a candidate for the 2016 Oscar Academy Award in the short film category.
The film is a production of the Iranian Young Cinema Society (IYCS) which is currently organizing the 32nd TISFF.
Selecting Winners
These days, Charsou Cineplex is host to thousands of film fans at its five cinema halls to see short fiction, documentary, animation and experimental films by Iranian and foreign filmmakers.
The jury of the international main competition section has started evaluating the 104 films selected and will announce the winners on November 17.
The jury includes Andrzej Bednarek, professor at the Polish National Film, Television and Theatre School, Matthias Flugge, director of the University of Fine Arts Dresden in Germany, Seigo Tonodi, director of Short Shorts Film Festival in Japan, Gipsy Chang, lecturer-in-charge of film editing at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Alireza Shoja-Noori, director of the 29th International Youth Film Festival in Iran.
