‘Beautiful China’ in Photo Display

A photo exhibition ‘Beautiful China’ sponsored by the State Council Information Office of China opened at the National Library and Archives of Iran in Tehran, on January 22, coinciding with the visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Iran.

Aiming to introduce the stunning natural landscapes and the people of the country, the exhibition features 70 photos in a “cultural center like the national library, where men of letters congregate,” Mehr News Agency quoted Seyed Reza Salehi Amiri, cultural advisor to the Iranian president, as saying at the inauguration ceremony.

“The exhibition also seeks to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries,” he said, describing the exhibition as a symbolic “Silk Road”, which will put the beauty of ancient China on display for Iranian enthusiasts.

China was Iran’s the top commercial partner during the tough sanctions regime; this event will further accelerator mutual cultural development and exchange,” Salehi Amiri noted and hoped the Chinese would reciprocate.

According to Jiang Jianguo, director of the State Council Information Office and deputy director of the publicity department of the Communist Party of China, the featured photos thematize natural bounties, harmony between human beings and nature, and China’s heritage.

China’s natural beauty, long history and present potential are shown in the pictures, he said, adding that “China highlights innovative development and protection of the environment.”

The exhibition will run through January 28 at the NLAI.
