Jazz Concert to Mark Christmas Eve in Tehran

Soul Friends music band will perform a concert to mark Christmas Eve at Vahdat Hall in Tehran on December 23-25.

The Armenian band, headed by Alvin Avanesian, is going to play Jazz standard songs. Jazz standards are musical compositions that are an important part of the musical repertoire of jazz musicians, in that they are widely known, performed and recorded by jazz musicians, and widely known by listeners.

Avanesian, who directs the concert, is also piano player. The other members of the band include vocalist Varuj Veskanian, guitarist Vahe Avanesian, drummer Vahik Gharebeigi, saxophonist Petro Keshishi and bassist Arameh Bandari. A choir group consisting of nine members will also accompany the band, Tiwall.com reported.

The concert comprises works from renowned jazz musicians such as Matt Monro, G. Winkler, Sigmund Romberg, Victor Young, Djalma Ferreia, Duke Ellington, George Shearing, Jack Wolf, Engelbert Humperdinck, Errol Garner and John Mandel.

Ticket prices vary between $14 and $16.
