Narenj Showroom in Tehran is to run an exhibition of diverse artworks for a limited period, February 9-12.
An email sent to the Financial Tribune says the showroom owner Farin Bonakdar, on show at the venue will be hand-woven gabbeh carpets and kilim rugs.
Gabbeh is known as ‘gava’ in Kurdish and Luri languages and is also called ‘khersak’ in the Bakhtiari dialect. It is characterized by abstract, often geometric designs on open fields of color. The craft is popular among nomads in and around the Zagros Mountain range, including Kurdish, Luri and Qashqai people, and is usually crafted by women.
A kilim is a flat tapestry-woven carpet or rug traditionally produced in Iran, Azerbaijan and Turkey. Kilims can be purely decorative or can function as normal rugs.
The upcoming exhibit will also display a collection of exquisite ceramics, jewelry, paintings, illustrations and photos.
Narenj showroom is located at No. 3, on the third floor of Maryam Shopping Center at Mohseni Square, Mirdamad Blvd., Shariati Avenue.
