Tabriz Municipality Calls for Bridge Designs

Municipality of Tabriz, capital of East Azarbaijan Province, is planning to construct a pedestrian bridge between the two parks of the city. It has organized an international architecture competition and has called for submission of designs.

The bridge is intended to link two large parks of the city known as El-Goli and El-Baghi. El-Goli or El-Golu is more famous. It has a square lake surrounded by a sidewalk on four sides. In the middle of the lake is a building constructed in the traditional Azari architecture. Elgoli is 70 hectares and El-Baghi is about twice as large as El-Goli.

Kasayi Freeway separates the two parks. The bridge, which should at least have a span of 100 meters, is to cross over the highway and provide a pedestrian access between the two parks.

The contest is open to the public and the municipality is looking for exotic designs for galleries, restaurants, cafes and other places compatible with public recreational centers.

Designs should be sent by post to the secretariat of the competition at Tabriz Municipality on South Lalezar Street. More information is available on the website of Memar News (memarnews.com). To register for the contest and see details, those interested can also refer to the website of Tabriz Municipality’s Department of Urban Development and Architecture, Tshs.tabriz.ir.

Submissions should be sent latest by July 12. Results will be announced on July 21.
