Kianian’s “Professional” on Stage in Canada

Actor and director Reza Kianian is showing a Persian version of the situation comedy play, ‘The Professional’, written by Serbian playwright Dusan Kovacevic in Canada.

The play has already been on stage in Montreal and is to be performed in Toronto May 26-27 and Vancouver on June 2, Honaronline reported on its Persian website.

Kianain, 66, performs in the play alongside Hedayat Hashemi, Diana Fat’hi and Saeed Malek.

The play is a story of a former university professor named Theodor, who is a Bohemian writer, a member of Belgrade’s intellectual elite  involved in overthrowing Slobodan Milosevic regime.

Kovacevic, 69, is a Serbian playwright and director best known for his plays and movie scripts. His screenplay “The Underground” was directed by Emir Kusturica, which won the Palme d’Or prize at Cannes in 1995. Kovacevic’s comedies have been translated into 17 languages.

The Professional was performed earlier in Paliz Theater in Tehran with a different cast.
