Trump Travel Ban in Satire

Theatrical piece “American Dream” written and directed by Aidin Kikhaei is underway at Tehran’s City Theater.  The piece is the story of a couple, with many financial problems, who win the US green card Lottery.  Kikhaei has written the piece following US President Donald Trump’s   executive order of January 27, 2017 banning citizens from seven Muslim-majority countries, including Iran, from entering the United States. “When I first heard the news I had some difficulty believing it, I thought it was a joke. It was so humorous to me that I decided  to write a comedy on it,” Honaronline quoted Kikhaei as saying. Kikhaei herself plays in the piece along with Keyvan Mahmoudnejad, Nazanin Babaei, Khashayar Moradi, Maziar Moayedi and Ailin Kikhaei.  The play will be on the stage at City Theater, located at the intersection of Valiasr and Enqelab streets, through June 4.
