Lake Chitgar

The largest artificial body of water in Tehran is Lake Chitgar in the west of the city.

The lake is also known as Bamland Lake, for it is seen as part of Bamland commercial complex ranked 57 on the American travel review website TripAdvisor among 168 attractions it mentions about  Tehran.

In 1968 and as part of a Tehran master plan it was decided that a lake be built in western Tehran. But due to technical and funding  constraints, construction of the lake was postponed until 2010.

Around the lake, there are various facilities including a cycling route, children’s playground, a shopping mall, parking lot, restaurants and cafes.

A few meters south of the complex lies Chitgar Forest Park, an old artificial forest with various trees such as pine, ash and cedar.
