Tehran Stocks Edge Down

Tehran stocks were choppy in the beginning of trading week on Saturday as an early hour rally gave in to sell-side pressure at the close of the session.

The benchmark of Tehran Stock Exchange, TEDPIX, shed 3,797.68 points and lost 0.26% to finish trading at 1,480,830. TEDPIX is sensitive to price changes in large caps.

Small caps and penny stocks performed better as the TSE’s equal-weighted index resisted moving into negative territory and closed 0.08% higher.

About 12.87 billion shares valued at 90.58 trillion rials ($362.32 million) changed hands at TSE for the day.

Darou Pakhsh Holding Company was the biggest winner as its shares went up 4.99% to 30,690 rials per share.

Kermanshah Province Saham Edalat Investment Company incurred the biggest loss among all TSE-listed companies and went down 4.98% to 840 rials per share.

Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company contributed the most to the benchmark's fall, followed by National Iranian Copper Industries Company, MAPNA Group and Chadormalu Mining and Industrial Company.

Pars Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to the benchmark index followed by Tehran Oil Refining Company, Iran Khodro Company and Mellat Bank.

IFX Up 0.44%

Iran Fara Bourse main index, IFX, gained 94.15 points or 0.44% to close Saturday trade at 21,306.93. About 4.21 billion shares and securities valued at 132.25 trillion rials ($529m) were traded at the junior exchange for the day.

Day Bank had the highest number of traded shares as 1.01 billion of its shares worth 1.15 trillion rials ($4.62m) were traded.

Zagros Petrochemical Company, Arya Sasol Polymer Company, Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company and Lavan Oil Refining Company had the most negative impact on IFX.

Marun Petrochemical Company gave the biggest boost to IFX, followed by Gohar Zamin Iron Ore Company, Hormozgan Steel Company and Minoo Industrial Group Company.
